Baysound to Hand Over Domain 32x.com to 32Red

Baysound, a company based in California, will have to hand over its domain 32x.com to 32Red, a casino site operator that has both online and mobile casinos for real money players. The transfer has been mandated as 32Red won a domain dispute settlement by the Wold Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) that was created by the United Nations in the late in 1960s. Having purchased the domain six years ago, Baysound planned to use it for a casino affiliate site. However, 32Red stopped it from doing this. The factor that pushed the online casino operator to make the move was that the domain contained 32, which is present in 32Red’s operational casino site.

Affiliate Site Contained Links to 32Red’s Competitor

Industry insiders stated that a verdict was passed against Baysound LLC by a three member panel from the UDRP, also known as the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy. According to the panel, if the name 32x is used, it will be too similar to the name of the online casino and it can create confusion among players.

One of the allegations by 32Red stated that Baysound’s 32x.com site contained links to other online casinos like Party Poker and 888.com, against whom 32Red competes. This was confirmed by the panel which clarified that 32Red clearly has the legal rights to two trademarks – 32 and 32Red. Based on its findings, WIPO has ordered Baysound LLC to transfer the domain 32x.com to 32Red.

This is the second domain dispute ruling in favor of 32Red. The previous one was against William Hill, one of the leading gambling agency operators in the UK. Last year, an Appeal Court and the High Court in London ruled that William Hill’s site ’32Vegas’ should not have 32 in it, as 32Red has legal rights over the use of the number.

Change in Management at 32Red

Just a few days following the win, there was a change in management at 32Red. Graham Campbell, the IT systems controller at the online casino resigned. Campbell, who had been with the site for ten years, was formerly employed at Ladbrokes, a UK based betting agency that operates an online casino, a poker room, a bingo room, a sportsbook and a backgammon site. At a meeting held by the board to discuss Campbell’s resignation, the members stated that the IT systems controller will continue to serve as a consultant with the company.

The latest dispute ruling in favor of 32Red Casino, which offers special rewards to players, has helped the site maintain its position as one of the most reliable online casinos. Its trustworthiness has earned it a number of awards in the past. The most recent were those of Best Casino Manager, Best Casino Group and Best Global Casino of 2011 from Casinomeister. The online casino bagged the same awards in 2010 and earned the title of the Best Casino of the Decade the year before. When handing over the awards for the Best Casino Manager, an executive of Casinomeister stated that the online casino is committed to being player-oriented, a fact that has driven the site to manage its offerings well.
